Consultants focus on strategy, the big picture, giving your business a global perspective.
Synthesis actually handles the work that results from this strategy!
If you read the comments section of a blog or major news site you’ve probably seen the spammers that blatantly advertise websites showing you how to work at home or promising to help you find a millionaire partner. But there are a few more subtle approaches being used that might slip past the quick glance. Here are the three biggest types of spam comments you’ll find on blogs (using real world examples I’ve found while assisting clients with their blogs!).
The most frequent question we get asked at Synthesis is, “How can I grow my business?” One reason we get asked is folks know I started the business 18 years ago in a spare bedroom with a $1600.00 Compaq computer – state of the art with 40 mg of ram and hard drive! That, and a determination my business would pay its own way.
Gary and I both had corporate jobs but when I got the idea to offer ‘left-brain service to right-brain creative thinkers’, I knew the only way to begin was, well, to begin. I poured through the Yellow Pages and targeted the right-brainiest people I knew: photographers and artists.
At that time, I faxed letters of introduction, (cheaper than mail and email was not as common.) I also spread the word through family and friends; and every job I earned, I finished on-time and in- or under-budget. My first year I netted a profit of $172.86. We’ve been consistently profitable ever since through consistent, intentional growth.
This is your perennial reminder that it’s time to review and change your passwords. Going through this process is a little bit like doing your taxes. Nobody gets excited about doing it – but it still needs to be done.
First – let’s talk about the worst passwords to use. In November SplashData, a developer of password software, released the most common (and worst) passwords in 2011:
Over-prepare, then go with the flow! None of us at Synthesis can do less than our best when it comes to our clients. Each of us loves the feeling of confidence that results from being prepared: going into a meeting with our ducks in a row, presenting a webinar that is rehearsed and balanced, turning in a finished product knowing we put our best foot forward.
It’s that second part of the equation that is a bit tougher – going with the flow. Losing both our parents this past year within 16 days of each other has taught Gary and me a simple lesson: no matter how prepared you might be, some things are completely out of your control. That’s when the real choice occurs: resist what happens next or lean into it.
