There’s a feature in QuickBooks that can be very handy if you are billing your travel time to clients: Vehicle Mileage Tracking.
You can start the simple wizard by clicking: Company|Enter Vehicle Mileage

At this point a box pops up that allows you to enter Vehicles on the fly; IRS Mileage Rates (which vary depending upon the type of driving you are doing, so check www.irs.gov for more information) and all the details of the trip:

At this point you can include this when billing the customer or run reports based on mileage per vehicle. Much overlooked feature in QuickBooks that can prove to be very handy:

NOTE: You can adjust the rate on the billing if you are marking up your cost/mile.
At year end, you can see how many business miles were put on any vehicle. The one thing you cannot run is a report by employee for reimbursement.
